I teach both groups and individuals - from complete beginners up to the advanced student, across the South from London to Cornwall. Please contact me to discuss prices and availability if you are interested in me coming to teach either yourself or your group. Below is a list of classes I teach. This list is not exhaustive so please contact me if you would like a complete list or more information.
1. Creative metal:
A) Embroidery - combining different types of metal thread with silk shading.
B) Flowers - using metal threads and fabric, colourful silks and organza to create delicate flowers.
C) Bracelet - combine metal threads with variegated threads and silk to make a bracelet.
2. Goldwork:
A) Beginners - basic techniques for working with gold thread. Covers a variety of different threads.
B) Advanced - Looks at more technically difficult aspects of goldwork. Ideally a two day class.
3. Silk shading:
A) Beginners - how to get started, blending colours and correct method for working the stitch.
B) Advanced - covers more advanced colour shading, stitch angles and overlaps. Two day class.
4. Jacobean:
A) Traditional - uses traditional crewel wools, Design based on the ‘Tree of Life’ motif.
B) Mirror - uses traditional stitches but incorporates more contemporary materials.
5. Whitework:
I can teach a number of different techniques including fine (two day), Broderie Anglaise, pulled, drawn, Mountmellick and Hardanger. Please contact me for further information about these classes.
6. Stumpwork:
A) Figure - how to pad, cover with ‘skin’, clothe and create hands, hair and decorative items.
B) Washing line - concentrates on making a variety of different items of clothing.
7. Blackwork:
A)Traditional - looks at how to shade a few patterns in order to produce a realistic looking object.
B) Colour - painted linen and coloured threads combine with traditional stitches. Two day.
